September 11th

September 11th is a day no one shall forget. Here in this photo, a worker jumps out of the building to escape the heat. Many people were killed either from the planes, jumping, or the flames. This photo struck me in the heart because it shows what people would do during this time. It shows how much they suffered. One picture of one man tells the horrible end to many people.

Burning, Blurring, and Dodging.

In this photo, I burned slight shadows, dodged lighting under the tree, and blurred the background.

With this picture, I used the dodge and burn tool to add more detail.

In my final photo, I used the dodge, burn, and blur tool.

Elements of Art

Line art is a simple way to make interesting art. Lines can be thick, thin, straight, curved, up, or down. Maybe even all around.

Shape art is closed lines of any sort. It can be geometric or random lines that meet a close.

Form is the art of depth, length, width and the illusion of 3-D.

Space is a blanket around each object to add negative space to show more depth.

Color is the light reflecting off objects. Using the three main characteristics, hue, value and intensity, simple color art can be one of the best paintings or drawings.

Textures at a new depth to art and photography. It could be soft, rough, smooth, or bumpy. But either way, it can be flat by the viewer, just by looking at the picture or painting.

Five Powerful Pictures

A picture like this needs no words to tell a story. Here, is a man. A man with swirling pools of emotions in his face. Happiness, sadness, anger, regret. I enjoy this photo for that reason. It's a simple picture with no words, yet it tells a whole story.

This picture shows life in the plainest way. There are people with money, with power. And, there are people with none of that. In this picture, power looks down upon poor as poor does whatever it can do to make a living.

A picture like this one shines brightly about being unique. One man standing out among the rest instantly brings your eye to them. But, is that good or bad? Everybody stands out, in one way or another.  Nobody is the same as the person next to them.

This photo is a simple, sad sentence. Memories are a powerful thing, which makes this photo full of meaning. Missing someone and knowing they're gone is hard. It is a gap that cannot be filled in your heart. The artist, like the wall, is haunted by the loss as "her", or as I see, the tree, is free to grow and move on.

Happiness is a strength, a medicine, a gift. Even in the saddest and the sickest of places, you can smile. And with a smile, you bring joy. and with joy, things get better.
